# Read a verse

GET https://api.bibleit.app/v1/organizations/{organization_id}/translations/{slug}/books/{book_id}/chapters/{chapter}/verses/{verse}

**Required scopes:** `translation.read`.

Requires the translation in this organization library. Returns canonical book IDs, localized book names, structured verses, edition and attribution. Sparse chapter numbering is preserved; absent resources return 404. No content is installed or fetched by a read.

## Authentication

- `Authorization` header (bearer token, required) — Organization-owned service token. Issue the initial token in organization credential settings. Scopes are documented per operation via x-required-scopes; they are not OAuth scopes.
